Implementing User Experience into your Marketing Website
Having a clear and intuitive website UX is essential to any startup. Here are some helpful tips on how to implement UX design.
If you read my last post, you’ll understand how important it is to have good UX and what to look for. But as important as UX is, implementing it into your website can be equally difficult. Whether in need of a simple refresh, a full redesign, or starting from scratch, knowing the ‘how’ of UX design is essential. Here are some helpful tips:
The first step in UX design is to research and ideate.
Understand the customer demographic and what needs to be included on your site to fulfill the customers needs. Doing so, and compiling the necessary features, designs, and characteristics of your site before creation will allow for more conscious design choices and reduce personal biases.
The research and ideation process should be intentional and thoughtful. Goals, colors, complexity, and navigation should all be planned and chosen ahead of time, as changes made are far easier in this stage.
Once the plan is tested, reviewed, and finalized, it's time to build.
For many startups without time, personnel, and budget, using a template from Wix, Squarespace, or Webflow is a valid and strong option. Templates take a large amount of the work away, because they have specialized UX designers putting in the design thought for you and time can be spent on customizing the template to fit the customers needs discovered in the planning stage. Be sure to look through many templates and use one that is closest to what you planned. Don’t be dissuaded by unusual color schemes or photography, you’ll be able to change the colors, fonts, and images to fit your brand. As a note, if you’re in the early stages of your startup, using a single page landing page or site is an efficient and effective option. It removes the majority of navigation issues, and more pages can be added later.
With how important branding is to a company's image, having an organized structure to create your website is essential. Implementing proper planning to your process will make the daunting task of creating all the different aspects far more manageable.
